Dear Blue Knights,
dear families and friends,
An eventful motorcycle summer is slowly drawing to a close. The first leaves are beginning to fall, the days are getting shorter, and the first touch of autumn can already be felt in the cooler mornings.
Behind us are many wonderful, though at times exceptionally hot, riding days. During our travels across Europe, we once again experienced what makes our community so special: shared miles, warm encounters, genuine friendship, and the feeling of being welcomed wherever Blue Knights come together.
This year, no fewer than three Chapters are celebrating their 35th anniversaries: Sweden I, Luxembourg I, and Germany II. On behalf of the European Conference, I would like to congratulate all three Chapters on reaching this very special milestone.
Thirty-five years of Chapter history do not happen by themselves. They represent commitment, friendship, continuity, and countless hours of personal effort. They also represent the members who have repeatedly accepted responsibility and carried the life of their Chapters forward over many years.
I wish Sweden I, Luxembourg I, and Germany II continued success, a strong future, and many more years within our Blue Knights family.
While we have had the privilege of celebrating together, we have also been reminded that our journey does not last forever.
During this summer, several Chapters had to say farewell to friends who made their final journey to Heaven I. Our thoughts are with their families, their friends, and their Chapters. What they contributed to our community will remain with us – in our memories, in the stories we share, and on every ride during which we remember them.
A living and active club needs people who are willing to accept responsibility. I would therefore like to thank all those who are the driving forces within our Chapters: the Presidents and Board members, organisers, Road Captains, and all the active members who make meetings and rides possible, maintain friendships, and ensure that a club becomes a true community.
It is not only the large international events that matter. Very often, it is the smaller meetings, spontaneous rides, and personal encounters where our friendship is most genuinely lived and carried forward.
My sincere thanks also go to the members of the European Conference Board. There has been a great deal of work during the past few months – some of it visible, much of it taking place behind the scenes. I greatly appreciate the personal commitment, the time invested, and the dependable cooperation within our Board.
At the beginning of September, the EC Board will publish a call for applications for the position of European Safety Officer. We are looking for a committed individual who will actively develop motorcycle safety within the European Conference, make use of modern communication methods, and support our Chapters in safety-related matters. Further information about the role and the application process will follow with the official announcement.
The autumn months will also offer several opportunities to meet friends and enjoy time together. These include the joint meeting of Germany II and Germany XIII from 18 to 20 September at Feriendorf Tieringen, celebrating the 35th anniversary of Germany II, the Oktober-Rock hosted by Germany XXI from 25 to 27 September, the “so n’Käse Party” hosted by Switzerland IV on 10 October, and the Labskaus Weekend from 16 to 18 October, which is already fully booked and now only accepting names for its waiting list.
We are also looking ahead to an important event next year. From 13 to 20 June 2027, Germany XXI will celebrate its 25th anniversary while also hosting the EC/IC 2027 in Waidring, Austria.
Those wishing to stay at the conference hotel should book directly with the hotel by email. The hotel referred to in the event information as the KUHOTEL is the KUHOTEL Steinplatte in Waidring, formerly known as KUHOTEL by Rilano and also listed online under the name elaya hotel steinplatte.
The regular price is approximately €1,200 per person for the full week, including breakfast. Significantly higher prices are currently being shown on booking platforms such as Booking.com, Trivago, and similar providers. These offers should therefore not be used.
Direct bookings with the hotel can already be made now; there is no need to wait until December.
Before we look too far ahead, however, we still have a beautiful autumn riding season in front of us. At this time of year, road conditions can change quickly. Lower temperatures, damp roads, earlier darkness, and the first fallen leaves can create unexpectedly slippery conditions, particularly when cornering.
Enjoy the rides ahead, but remain alert and adjust your speed and riding style to the autumn conditions. Our most important shared destination must always be for everyone to arrive home safely.
